Are You Under the Microscope Following Your Virginia Car Accident?

Since when did the claims adjuster become a doctor?

You did what you were supposed to do after a Virginia car accident – you sought medical care. But now, the insurance adjuster is questioning your medical treatment. You may be shocked and frustrated at this line of questioning, yet, believe it or not, this tactic is one of many that is often used by insurance companies.

Disputing Medical Treatment

It may seem surprising that the adjuster would question your doctor’s judgment regarding your medical treatment, especially considering that the adjuster does not have the same medical training as your physician. However, it does happen. Adjusters have been known to put medical files under the microscope, so that they can pick and choose what was medically necessary, in their opinion. They may argue that the medical treatment wasn’t needed or they may agree to pay merely a portion of the cost.

What You Should Do

If you are having difficulty with the insurance adjuster, it may be time to talk with a Virginia car accident attorney. You need to ensure that you understand your rights after an accident and what steps need to be taken to get a fair settlement.
