You may have been told a lot of things by the insurance adjuster, in an attempt to get you to settle your Virginia car accident claim. But how do you know if you have all of the information you need to make the right decision regarding your case?
Recently, a woman contacted our office. She had been injured in a Virginia accident and had already settled her case. Unfortunately, it turned out that she had settled too soon.
The adjuster should have told her.
The insurance company hadn’t told this woman everything she needed to know before agreeing to a settlement. For example, the insurer told her that she would be paid for her out-of-pocket expenses. The thing was, she was entitled to much more than what she had been told. Sadly, her problems only got worse after she agreed to a settlement.
She later discovered that her own health insurance company wanted to be reimbursed from her settlement. The adjuster should have told her this information, as it would have greatly impacted her decision to settle so quickly.
The money she received for her out-of-pocket expenses wasn’t nearly enough. This situation just goes to show that you can’t be too careful when working with the insurance company. While not every car accident case requires the assistance of a Virginia personal injury lawyer, there are some situations where an attorney is just what you need.
