Doesn’t it always seem like you are delivered bad news when it comes to Virginia car accident statistics? While one accident is one too many, it is always refreshing to hear that the amount of accidents is going down not up. According to the “2010 Virginia Traffic Crash Facts” report released by the Virginia Highway Safety Office, we’re moving in the right direction in relation to accidents.

Facts & Figure Relating to Virginia Car Accidents

The most recent report from the state’s highway safety office contains 77 pages of facts and figures relating to Virginia car accidents. We’re just going to focus on a select number of highlights from this compilation of data:

  • The number of drunk driving fatalities dropped 13.29 percent from 2009.
  • Car accident injuries went down by 2.47 percent and fatalities declined by 2.12 percent from the previous year.
  • Speeding claimed less lives in 2010 than it did in 2009.
