Virginia Bus Accident Claims – Do You Know What To Expect?

They might not be common. You might never think about your risk of being in one. Yet, hundreds of people are injured every year in Virginia bus accidents. If you are one of these people, there are some things you need to know.

  1. You are not alone. According to the 2010 Virginia Traffic Crash Facts report released by the Virginia Highway Safety Office, there were 519 bus crashes in just one year. Of those accidents, 218 involved injuries. Sadly, two of those Virginia bus accidents resulted in death.
  2. The bus driver might not have done anything wrong. Based on the Virginia Highway Safety Office’s report, the drivers committed no violations in 64.07 percent of the bus crashes.
  3. The insurance company will not make it easy for you. If you are trying to recover compensation in a bus accident case, expect an uphill battle. The insurance company will look for ways to avoid liability for your damages.
  4. Talking with a Fairfax personal injury lawyer is advisable. Bus accident cases are unique and it is in your best interest to at least talk with an experienced attorney. A personal injury lawyer will be able to review the facts of your case and explain your best course of action.
